You're Not Getting Media Attention Because You're Not Safe AND Available! Here's What I Mean. Hello Reader, Most real experts I work with think their media challenge is visibility. “If more producers knew about me…” But here’s the hidden problem almost no one talks about: Journalists don't always choose the best expert. They’re choosing the most available, reliable and quotable experts who they know. Those who answers the phone. Those who can drop everything. Those who can deliver a clean, confident soundbite under pressure — without freezing, rambling, or sounding academic. When Mark Albert was reporting for the CBS Evening News, that’s exactly how it worked. News doesn’t wait. The show must go on. And once a producer finds someone who’s reliable and smart they call them again… and again… and again. In the short term, that works for the newsroom. In the long term, it might be a problem for you. It's easy to understand because finding experts who are available, can provide great sound bites, and hold up under pressure is hard work! But that means the audiencemight not get the best expertise. And real experts like you stay invisible because they’re not media-ready and obviously available. This is why being TED-Worthy matters far beyond the TED stage. What makes a TED Talk work is the same thing that makes someone magnetic on TV, radio, podcasts, and social media: Clarity under constraints Emotional credibility, not just credentials The ability to curate knowledge instead of just dumping it That’s why I love working with Mark Albert, and we cover this topic in the clip below . If you want meaningful visibility, your job isn’t to chase exposure. Your job is to make it easy for journalists to choose you. That means: Being findable Being prepared Being able to deliver value fast, without losing your soul or oversimplifying your expertise And a demo reel, with you being succinct under pressure, is gold. If this resonates let's talk, or pass it along to someone whose voice should be heard more often. The audience needs them. And the media won’t find them unless they’re ready to be found. If you'd like to talk about being found, being TED-Worthy, or just being calmer about your upcoming speaking event, let's talk. Watch the video and let's connect.
